Post Hospital

Last Sunday I was at home with my youngest daughter because she was sick. I was chopping wood for the coming cold weather. The body started to ache so I decided to start working around the yard to where the wood was and not move the wood to the chopping blocks. I forgot about the washing line… swung the axe with all my might to split the wood. Wait what POW right in the skull. The blood was almost immediate, not a good sign. Okay, I have a 8yr old with me, I do not know how bad this is, I am not sure where I am going to be awake in less then a minute. EMS activate EMS….. with blood soaked hands I reach to my pocket to get my phone, blast phone will not recognize my finger print. Double tap…. Number, cant tap the number in…. Siri call 911, no response. Crap not good. Took my kid inside to get the land line. Tried to get her to call mum. Land line from ATT dead. Need a dressing, er er I cleaned the blood of my phone and off my hands… “Gwinnett EMS, all our advisors are busy, please do not hang up” wait what?? I held two cycles and hung up, “i need to call my wife”. Immediately the phone rung EMS. Get them coming get them to call my wife. “Cant let them take my kids into care” Hand a towel on the wound, i know not the best but first things first, Pressure. Finally on the phone, EMS coming, Mum on the way home I sat down. Got a better dressing, realized it cant be that bad as I would be gone by now. Tried to comfort my daughter.

Outcomes: Inch Laceration to skull, Hematoma and who knows if I have an issue in the brain. Lots of brain tiredness after efforts of sorts.

Not many experiences we have in our lives that make you consider it might be your last. This as one for me, could have gone a number of ways, thankfully it was not my time to go to God. If I was to share any advice today it would be to live life without fear. This can sometimes push you into defense mode and shut inside so nothing happens… do not do this. We are made to go out and live life in its fullness and not shut inside. Will I ever pick up an axe again, sure thing I will! In a week or so I will be back at it. John 10:10 Jesus came so that you may HAVE life in all it’s fullness. While this is spiritually being a chiropractic involved in healthcare, I can tell you if you do have a physical condition it can really prevent this.

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
